Students all over the city specifically the third and fourth year students as well as the college students, attended the K4K, Kilos Kabataan para sa Kalikasan. It was a seminar on how we can protect our environment. The project was planned and managed by our city mayor, Mr. Edward S. Hagedorn with his councilors as well as our vice mayor, Mr. Lucilo Bayron. It was a great honor to be one of the students who joint there. It was held last January 26, 2009 at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum.
Since, I am a second year student I should not belong their but because of being a dance troupe member, I was luckily chosen as one of the members to perform an intermission number.
The program started at exactly 1:30 in the afternoon and we are the first school to perform, after a few minutes our first speaker discussed to us the “Global Warming”, which is very harmful now a days. She gave us tips on how we can prevent from having this problem. I was glad to know these things, I already have an idea when it comes to these things but I realized that it was different from mine. Afterwards, selected students from another school presented their number and then trivia was given to us by the hosts which are my schoolmates, Yona Mahilum abd Ralph Cabasal.
A few minutes past, our second speaker came and he discussed about “Swift Justice”. It was a way on how we can build or make global solutions. Actually, I found it hard to relate on the topic because I was a bit bored already but then, I kept on listening and putting those things on my mind. Some of them were laws of the Philippines for our speaker at that time was a lawyer.
Lastly, I heard him. I heard our city mayor on how he gave his countrymen specifically the students the solutions to protect our mother earth. It was my first time to join an activity where our mayor is the speaker. I was happy because before he ended his service as a mayor, he tried his best to reunite the youth on how we can make our environment better and safe from any danger.
After the seminar, I realized that I can do many things reagarding to the biggest problem that we are facing right now. I should start to do it now and not tomorrow. I should say “Kilos Kabataan Para sa Kalikasan”.
